Long-horizon ownership

A journal for Felix and August.

This is where I write down what I own, why I own it, what I am still learning, and how small, steady contributions can compound into something meaningful over time.

Why it matters

Not a trading dashboard. A durable record of reasoning.

Markets move every day. Conviction usually moves slower. Felix/August is designed to keep the focus on thesis, discipline, and ownership rather than noise.

Core idea

Put a modest amount to work consistently, study the businesses behind the symbols, and leave behind a readable record of how the thinking evolved.

2022 thesis

I was finishing grad school and watching GPT change the shape of the future.

I did not know every company that would matter, but I felt the direction clearly enough to begin. The notes on this site are meant to preserve that feeling: the moment when AI stopped looking like a curiosity and started looking like infrastructure.

Family ledger

Before there is scale, there is consistency. Before there is a big result, there is a long string of ordinary decisions.

Documented start

Imported history begins in November 2025

The household transfer trail now starts with real exported account history, not a made-up cadence block. That gives the site a more honest origin story.

Interactive snapshot

Combined household view

This pass combines the imported thinkorswim sleeve with the Fidelity CSV and now includes documented transfer history from the available account exports. The routine still matters, but the better story is what actually landed in the accounts over time.

Account breakdown

Imported sleeve totals across both accounts

Contribution cadence

Documented monthly transfers from the imported account histories so far

Top holdings

Largest positions across imported sleeves

Account split

Current value by account sleeve

Theme allocation

A simple view of what the household is leaning into

Largest imported positions

The biggest positions currently visible from the two imported sleeves

Complete archive

See every imported position

Open the full holdings archive for brokerage source, quantity, cost basis, gain, and the other fields available from the current CSV exports.

Backdrop

The world you are inheriting

This section starts with a simple Census-backed backdrop. Debt still matters here too, but that will likely come from Federal Reserve or New York Fed datasets in a later pass.

National backdrop snapshot

Simple, visible indicators for population, age, and household income

Research lanes

The themes I want the boys to understand

AI

The software, platforms, and model ecosystems changing how work gets done.

Hardware

The chips, fabs, memory, and manufacturing capacity required to make AI real.

Infrastructure

The physical and digital systems that support logistics, compute, and industrial scale.

Energy

The power layer behind factories, grids, data centers, and long-run growth.

Why this holds together

A family ledger, not a performance page.

Stewardship

The point is not to look smart in public. The point is to leave behind businesses, notes, and habits that still make sense years later.

Attention

The account history matters because it shows what got funded, when conviction showed up, and how often I kept going even when it was not exciting.

Inheritance

I want the boys to inherit both assets and reasoning: what I was seeing, what I got right, what I got wrong, and why I kept reading.

Principles

What I want this project to teach

01

Ownership matters more than prediction.

02

Consistency beats intensity when time is on your side.

03

Data should support judgment, not replace it.

04

Risk belongs in the open, especially with options.

Next data pass

What I still need to add

The next layer is the full dated contribution ledger, more precise thesis tags for each holding, and eventually account and theme filters so the site can toggle between total household view and individual sleeves.
